Question

Photoshop Clone Stamp Tool copy is darker than original sample

Cloning on one layer with the Current layer option selected, brush opacity 100%, Mode: Normal, Flow: 100% and tools reset still yields the clone result that is much darker than the original sample.

Does this have something to do with some uncalled-for effects of the brush tools? What?

This is frustrating, and I never had a problem with the stamp tool until recently. Please provide a solution to clear this up. I pay over $100 a month for two accounts. Now I have to figure out a workaround.

Check which layer(s) you're sampling from. It sounds like you have adjustment layers on top, and you're sampling "all layers".

Hi! Thank you for your reply. I thought I mentioned that the current layer, blending set to Normal, and transparency 100% was set. I tried everything. Even the sample "circle" is darker than the original. The clone gets progressively darker! I need to resolve this.

I'm using a Mac Studio with the latest PSD software.

Show a screenshot of the full UI when this happens, with the tool active. Make sure the Layers panel is visible.

Hi- I just noticed testing the Clone Stamp Tool- the clone copy gets darker and darker til it's almost black-?? I can't even think of a tool where darkening gets darker as you brush along.
