Question

Photoshop colors off when upgrading to Win11

Am seeing a color issue windows 11 and PS - when working with Capture One, then editing in PS, and back to C1. The image looks great in C1 on my calibrated monitor (NEC PA series), then looks oversaturated/etc. in PS, then when back in C1 after PS edits, looks fine again (in C1). I'm running a new computer, latest versions of software, Nvidia graphics card, etc. - pretty standard configuration. NOTE:  Affinity Photo does NOT have this issue. can have their stuff working at launch vs. Adobe with all it's resources? I spent over an hour on a chat with Adobe support only to come to the conclusion that this was a bug - hard to believe I'm the first person to uncover this given that Win11 has been out for a while and I'm certain I'm not the only one with this workflow. And yes, I've tried all the different color options (when the file opens I get the embedded color mismatch dialog) - which NEVER occurred previously. This is disruption to my workflow - surprised this wasn't caught with regression/beta user testing as it's not that deep into the usage of PS in a workflow.

Adobe's advice appears to be not to upgrade at this stage : https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/windows-11.html

To quote from that document : "We strongly recommend you wait until we have released a compatible version of your app."

Thanks for posting - great.....wish I would have known this before upgrading...amazing that a large company like Adobe with all their resources, software development experience/processes, and no doubt relationship with Microsoft doesn't have their act together with MS to have addressed this prior to launch....

Information I've seen suggests thaet Microsoft removed the display profile call that Adobe have used 'for ever'. If that’s true - TBH, I am blaming Microsoft, they seem to be less and less interested in colour management since they resigned from the International Color Consortium.

I hope this helps

It seems that W11 has removed a method Adobe use to call on the display profile. A fix from Microsoft is needed. Or for Adobe to partly rewrite their apps. for compatibility

You missed this existing thread which covers it well:

Interesting - but ultimately Adobe's responsibility to address and hopefully quickly. Wonder how long they've known about the call being removed? Usually software companies provide a list of changes from one release to another to their developers well in advance so they can plan accordingly.....
