Question

Photoshop continually crashes when pasting text

I am losing my mind. Out of nowhere, all of a sudden Photoshop crashes every single time I try to copy some text from a google doc using cmd+c/cmd+v on my Macbook Pro (M1 Max, Monterey 12.3.1)

I tried updating PS to the latest version (23.5)

I've restarted my Mac.

I've tried using both the native M1 version, and the version launched with Rosetta.

I've tried resetting my preferences as outlined in other threads.

I've tried replicating the behaviour in a different PS file, and interestingly enough, it worked a few times (maybe 3?) after I switched files before the crashing returned.

I have plenty of hard drive space (500+gb), and ram (64gb), and I have no other major programs open aside from Safari where I'm trying to paste the text from.

I'm about to try reverting to an older version of PS to see if this can help until Adobe gets their crap together and puts out a stable version of this software. I've been using PS since CS3 and I've never had this many crashes in such a short amount of time from such a basic function. It's maddening.

I don't know if anyone else has any suggestions but I'm willing to try just about anything right now as this is severly impacting my work day.

Did you solve this? I'm with the same problem with the current 24.0.1 version, which I thought would maybe solve this, but no. I've been having this problem since the 2021's versions 😂

I'm guessing not. I'm recently having this same issue

How many activated fonts do you currently have open?

Hi @Dr.Girlfriend sorry to hear this. Have you tried the manual preference replacement method vs resetting?

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you,
