Photoshop crashes and performance issues after the latest update

Hi everyone,

After the latest Photoshop update, I have been experiencing frequent crashes and significant performance slowdowns, particularly when working with larger files or using AI-based features like Generative Fill. The app freezes and closes unexpectedly, and navigation becomes slow even on simpler tasks.

Has anyone else encountered this issue, and is there a known fix or workaround?

Hey, @alice_5607. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I couldn't find any crash reports submitted under the account you're signed in to on the community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out.

Please share details if this happens with a specific document. If yes, share the sample PSD and the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > upload and attach here.

If you see a crash dialogue, submit it with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

Something as basic as 'Run as Administrator' helps in a few cases.

  • Just head to the Photoshop installation folder (Default - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2025)
  • Find Photoshop.exe > right-click > use 'Run as Administrator'.
  • Also, as a temporary workaround, try using Photoshop (beta). Go to Creative Cloud > Apps section > Beta Apps tab.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!
