Photoshop CS6 installer initialization error

Hello!

I'm migrating laptops after massive hardware failure, and trying to reinstall CS6. I paid for a copy several years ago, and I still have the serial key, so that isn't the issue.

I downloaded the CS6 .dmg from the Adobe website, but when I try to start the installer, it tells me "Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file. Please download Adobe Support Advisor to detect the problem". From there, there are 2 buttons - get Adobe Support Advisor (which doesn't exist anymore), or quit.

I've already run the CC cleaner tool (I did unsuccessfully try to restore PS from my backup drive, so I thought there might be leftover Adobe gunk somewhere in the works - no dice though, 0 issues detected, and searching "Adobe" on my hard drive brings up nothing but the .dmg I just downloaded.)

I'm on a 15in 2017 MacBook Pro, running Sierra 10.12.6. Pretty sure hardware isn't the issue.

Is there anything else I can try? Does anybody have any ideas? Please let me know if providing more details would be helpful.

Thank you so much!
