Question

Photoshop doesn’t save imported brushes, patterns, text styles, or gradient maps. They disappear after I reopen Photoshop, so I have to import them again. PS 27.4.0, Mac M1 Pro.

Hi @Zesty_Jubilee5692,

Thanks for reporting this. Since you’re currently using Photoshop 27.4.0, the first thing I’d recommend is updating to the latest Photoshop v27.9.1 and checking whether the imported presets are retained after restarting Photoshop.

If the issue continues after updating, could you please try the following:

  • Import one test brush/pattern/gradient, quit Photoshop normally, relaunch it, and confirm whether that newly imported item also disappears.

  • Go to Help > System Info > Copy and paste the contents here.

  • Let us know whether Photoshop is able to retain other preference changes you make between launches.

If all newly imported presets and other preference changes are being lost after every restart, that may indicate Photoshop isn’t successfully saving its preferences/settings on quit, rather than an issue with an individual brush or preset file.

Please don’t reset or delete your Photoshop preferences yet. If the behavior continues on the latest version, we can collect the preferences folder before making further changes.

Best,

Anshul Saini
