Photoshop eraser not working correctly

hi! my eraser isn't working properly, I have to keep clicking and dragging as if the opacity is lower but the opacity is on 100% and so is the layer opacity. it's also got a 100% flow and is set to a standard brush... I have no idea why it's doing this and would appreciate your help! thank you

just figured it out! anyone else wondering it was my eraser setting. I switched it to erase background instead and now it works

Try this: right click the Eraser in the options bar (not Tools panel) and Reset tool.
