Photoshop File Saves to wrong location when exported from Lightroom

If I export a file from Lightroom (not classic) to Photoshop and then saveas to a different folder the file saves to the same folder as the original image.  I want to keep the edited files in a different folder than all the originals.  There is nothing in the UI that says it saved in a different folder than you choose.  So later when you go look for that file and it’s not there you just assume it didn’t save.  In Classic when you saved the file in a different folder it respected your choice.

I open files from Lightroom and save to an entirely different drive, so I know this works correctly. Use Save As and make sure you are going to the desired folder in the dialog.

First of all, I need to ask: are you absolutely sure you have the right path in the Photoshop Save As dialog? I’m asking because this is a mistake we all make occasionally. Also, there is a preference setting in Photoshop to Save As to original folder. If you uncheck that, the default is the last folder. Check that setting again.

If that’s not it, it sounds like the Save As protocol is being overruled by the Save protocol. The latter is determined by the background script that integrates Lightroom and Photoshop, and most likely a full reset of preferences in both applications will fix it.

(I use Lightroom Classic, not Lightroom Cloud, but I’m assuming they behave the same way).
