Question

Photoshop freezing after moving layers to a different file.

Hello everyone, I've recently encountered an issue with Photoshop where there are 2 particular layers that persist on staying stuck and crashing down the app every time I try to move them into a different file.

I've unchecked the graphics processor, I've also changed the subject processing to cloud and the selections processing to more stable, yet none of the methods seem to work.

The files aren't that big either ( 800MB, 53 MB ) and as you can see in the video I have 32GB RAM available on my Macbook ( 16 Inch M1 2021 32 GB RAM 2TB SSD ).

Any suggestions? Thank you.

So what happens if you use Layer > Duplicate Layers and select the other document as the destination?

That's kind of what I did.
As you can in the video I duplicated both layers and later converted them into a smart object to erase the mask and save some space.

Afterwards I tryed moving them into the destinated document and it ended up freezing the app.

@Daniel278071203fq6 what @Stephen Marsh means is using the Layers menu to move to the destined document not dragging to a new window.
