Photoshop got Alzheimer

Hellooo,

For past month and a half I believe PS got alzheimer, it keeps forgetting the Open Recent like every 2-3 days, but sometimes it happens 2+ times a day.
Absolutely nothing changed hardware wise. It does remember the custom keyboard shortcuts for some reason, but to remember the files? Impossible. Like what can be causing it?d:

1. Already did, didn't help
2. No third-party plugins installed, and never were
3. All up to date, all drivers etc.

Basically nothing special, turn on photoshop for example 5 times, all is there, turn it on 6th time, no recent files. Sometimes entire day is ok, next day - no recent files. It's extremely random, but happens quite regularly :d

Hi @Typhonart, thanks for the follow-up. I agree that this sounds like a very odd and frustrating issue, especially given its unpredictable nature. To help us narrow it down further, could you please share the following details?
• Do you happen to have multiple versions of Photoshop installed (e.g., Photoshop 2024 and 2025 side by side)?
• Could you go to Help > System Info in Photoshop, then copy and paste the full report here (or in a DM if you prefer)?
• Are you using a standard or admin user account on your machine? • If possible, could you try launching Photoshop under a different admin user account to see if the issue persists (Win/ Mac)?
• Is this a personal or a work-managed machine?
• Are you running any antivirus, endpoint protection, or system cleaner apps that might clear or sandbox preferences?

This behavior isn’t expected, and we want to make sure Photoshop remembers what it’s supposed to. Once we have this information, we can investigate more deeply or involve engineering if needed.

1. For a brief moment I had Photoshop Beta installed and some older 2024 version, both removed around 3 months ago.
2. Now I see I use 26.3 version, I forgot I turned off auto-update since it messed up my Premiere Pro, Media Encoder and Illustrator, some minor bugs that were annoying enough to revert back to older version and turn off autoupdate. It's from January, but the issue started to happen as I mentioned 1.5 month ago, so it was all G for some months.

Hi @Typhonart, Thanks for reaching out! Photoshop stores recent file history in its preferences. If those preferences get corrupted or reset, the list can sometimes disappear. Here are a few steps you can try to help troubleshoot and resolve it.

1. Reset Photoshop Preferences: Follow the steps mentioned here to reset Photoshop's preferences: https://adobe.ly/4jmvs7u. Please back up your settings before resetting them. You can check here: https://adobe.ly/3YW1WOu.
2. Check for Plug-in Conflicts: Some third-party plug-ins can interfere with how Photoshop saves settings. Launch Photoshop while holding Shift to skip loading plug-ins. If the issue stops, try disabling or updating your plug-ins.
3. Update Photoshop: Make sure you're on the latest version. Adobe regularly releases bug fixes that address issues like this.
