Question

Photoshop - iPad - Opacity

Hello,

As a Photoshop for the iPad newbie, I'm trying to trace a photo as described in the guide below.

When I reduce the opacity, a checkerboard background appears, rather than the white background in the instructions.

What step am I, or the guide, missing to get a white background when reducing opacity?

Thanks.

You are not doing anything wrong. The checkboard pattern indicates opacity or partial opacity — in your case 50%. If you don't want to see the transparency grid, you can create a new layer at the bottom of the Layers panel and fill it with white.

Apologies for not seeing your post for almost two months.
