Question

Photoshop Mac "Error: Internal error"

Out of nowhere, I've started getting an "Error: Internal error" message when I try and open Photoshop from Lightroom Photo/Edit In/Open as layers in Photoshop. I've tried resetting preferences and rebooting.

There doesn't seem to be much on this that I can find in the Forums or via Google. Can anyone help?

Thanks

J

Hi @renouj21

Did reinstalling Photoshop resolve the issue for you? If it didn't, I recommend granting full desk access to both Lightroom and Photoshop. The steps are shared in the video tutorials below.

Let us know how it turns out!

Is this launching Photoshop or is it already running? Are you running the PS beta? Have you checked the Lightroom preferences and considered a reset? You specify your external editor in the LR prefs and a problem there could cause errors.

Well, I’ve deleted both versions of Photoshop, reinstalled just Photoshop (not Beta), checked the LR preferences and made sure PS (not Beta) is specified as the external editor.
It’s all very odd. I’ve been using the right click “Edit in/Open as Layers in PS" command for a year without problems.

@renouj21 Double checked if Full Disk Access is granted to both Lightroom and Photoshop in your System Settings? This is a frequent culprit for "Internal Errors"

Thanks. I’ve had a look and I have full disk access for Photoshop (Beta) but Photoshop isn’t in the list. When I try and add Photoshop, it doesn’t end up appearing. But I assume the two are interoperable as far as Permissions go, but maybe I’m wrong?
