Photoshop mistakenly saves PSD with layers and alpha channels files as PNG

Issue: PS forces to save as PNG an opened PNG file but with added layers and alpha channels, causing the loss of the edited features

Provide Photoshop version: 26.0.0
Provide OS and version: macOS 13.7.5

Issue: Provide good steps to reproduce the behavior:
Step 1 Have opened ANY png file and add layers and alpha channels
Step 2 Save the file
Step 3 Be ready to loose all the editing work because PS forces to save it again as PNG instead of FORCING to save it as PSD, to retain all the work.

Expected result: Photoshop SHOULD FORCE TO SAVCE IT AS PSD
Actual result: Photoshop forces to save it as PNG
