Question

Photoshop needs a click to "wake up" after alt+tab

Using multiple applications, it's normal to alt+tab away from Photoshop and then alt+tab back. Every time I do this, rather than Photoshop being ready to accept keyboard commands, I have to click on the Photoshop window. This is super annoying. Can this be fixed? That system beep is about to drive me crazy.....

(hopefully an easy one!!)

Hi @BK_2069, thanks for reaching out! That sounds frustrating, especially when trying to work quickly between apps. Let’s see if we can get this sorted. First, a few things to check:

1. Update Photoshop and your OS: Make sure you’re running the latest version of Photoshop and that your operating system is fully up to date. Sometimes, updates resolve focus or windowing issues.

2. Check input device software: If you’re using a third-party keyboard, mouse, or tablet software (like Logitech Options, Wacom drivers, etc.), try updating or temporarily disabling it to see if it’s affecting focus behavior.

3. Reset Photoshop preferences: This can clear up unexpected UI behavior. To reset, hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Option + Shift (Mac) while launching Photoshop, then confirm when prompted.

If the issue continues, feel free to share your system information and Photoshop version so we can investigate further.

Let me know how it goes. I hope this helps! ^CH
