Photoshop new document window gone outside of the monitors

I’m working both at the office and at home, with different dual screens in different setups, and now the window for new documents in PS is invisible when i chose new document. I believe the window is stuck somewhere outside of my monitors and I can’t find a way to retrieve it. 

I suspect it is related to the screen resolution issues too, since the program windows can change size in crazy ways depending on which screen I move them to. 


The same issue happened on my previous computer but in Illustrator, so I just had to press enter and get whatever image size that was default and then change it in the program to what I needed.

    I had a similar situation with the modern new document panel opening in the top left corner of a peripheral screen (green highlight top left).  

    I was unable to fix it and it was so disruptive, I reverted to the classic New Doc panel. 

    I am not 100% sure, but I strongly suspect this started around the time I was trying to setup an XenceLabs Pen Display which I had set as a forth screen and used offset to the left of my physical workspace.  That same space is shared with a laptop and mini piano keyboard, so the Pen Display was in the cupboard. Fairly recently I decided to swap my Intuos 5 with the Pen Display and set it as a duplicate, and the modern New Doc panel magically reverted to the main screen.

    So I think Dag (Mr Fosse) is right and your issue is to do with how Windows looks at multiple screens. The New Doc panel is somehow looking at the spread below as one large screen with zero, zero in the top left corner.  This theory is tenuous as it only started when I first added the Pen Display as a forth screen, and it work fine years ago.  I am not sure whether my only having two screens dates back to before the modern New Doc panel (which I love).

     

    Try restarting the computer with second screen turned off.  I have a feeling that you’ll need to switch to the classic new doc panel, which is a pain because the new panel is so much nicer.

      I suspect this is controlled by Windows rather than Photoshop, but you can try a complete reset of preferences. Move the whole “Adobe Photoshop 2026 Settings” folder to your desktop so a fresh one can be rebuilt. Save out your custom actions and brushes first.

       

      If that doesn’t help, see what you can do in Windows settings. Disable all external displays. Reduce any display scaling as far as it will go.
