Photoshop no longer opens Illustrator for editing smart vector objects! Please help!

Hello, since the Illustrator beta is on my Mac, Photoshop 2024 does not open a vector smart object 
(created with Illustrator) in Illustrator. I uninstalled the beta. The problem remains.
 It looks like Photoshop no longer knows which version of Illustrator to open for editing. 
What can I do? Is there a setting where you can specify which program/version can be opened?

Illustrator Beta (deinstalled)
Illustrator 2024 or a older version
