Question

Photoshop on Android v1.4.2252 is slow and not smooth

I am writing to report an issue with the Adobe Photoshop Editor app on my Android device running HyperOS 3 (Android 16).

Issue: When I add a new layer over the background, I am unable to properly transform (resize/move) the layer. The app shows delayed response, and in many cases, instead of transforming the layer, the layer menu opens unexpectedly. This disrupts the workflow and makes editing difficult.

Device & Software Details:

- Device: Poco x6 Pro 5g

- OS: HyperOS 3 (Android 16 based)

- App: Adobe Photoshop Editor (version 1.4.0.2252)

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open the app and create/open a project

2. Add a new layer over the background

3. Try to transform (resize/move) the layer

4. Observe lag and incorrect behavior (layer menu opens instead)

This appears to be a compatibility or performance issue with the current OS version.

Hey, @coffeebagmanufacturer. Thanks for the comment. Could you share more info, such as the version of Photoshop on Android, your device, the version of Android OS & a video of what you also notice.

Thanks!

This looks more like a performance or resource-related issue rather than a direct tool bug.

Since you're using an Android device, a few things you can try:

- Close all background apps before opening Photoshop
- Disable battery saver or any performance limiting settings
- Try working on a smaller canvas size to see if the lag reduces
- Make sure the app is fully updated

In cases where multiple steps are involved (like adding layers, transforming, etc.), even slight delays can sometimes trigger unexpected behavior like menus opening instead.

Breaking the workflow into smaller steps (add → adjust → transform) can sometimes help isolate the issue.

Hope this helps!

Sir please go through the video which i have uploaded in which i have cleared all the recent apps and also phone is in performance mode and the canvas size is most of the the screenshot of the phones itself so & approx size of 1mb I don't this it's a canvas issue

@Sameer K

@Sameer K hope sir this video clears all the doubt i have enabled perfomance mode on my device and also no recent apps except photoshop editor is open in background and the battery is at 67%.

You can see there is lag while pinching in & out the image and aslo while adjusting the layer. Could you confirm this is a photoshop editor issue or my phone's issue with Hyper OS 3 (Android 16 based) bcz this type of lag is not observed on any other apps and also earlier on Hyper OS 2 (Android 15 based) it was working flawlessly

Hey, @BABU RATHOD. Thanks for bringing this up. There is some lag, but I would like to confirm if that is beyond what is expected. Could you record your screen and include a short video?

Thanks!

Thanks for the video. The device’s battery is at 11%, and you’re currently charging it too.

You might have a power saver enabled, or the device might be heating up, in which case the system throttles overall performance.

Check if closing background apps and enabling performance mode in the Phone’s settings helps to some extent. Also, the size of your document(s) plays an equal role. Try working on a smaller document and see if going beyond a certain file size triggers severe lag.

Thanks!
