Hi all,

How do I have photoshop open from a certain folder everytime I hit (CMD - O) or File Open?

Currently it constantly opens from my download folder and all my files are stored elewhere so I have to navigate to my files everytime. I chekced the prefs and "file handling" only allows me ot tell it where to SAVE to, not where to open from.

Please help!!

The Open dialog goes directly to the last folder you saved to. Just tested here and that's what it does every time.

I never open files this way so I hadn't noticed this behavior. But it makes perfect sense, and now that I know this I might use Open more often, instead of opening from Bridge or Windows Explorer.

(Unfortunately I've grabbed the shortcut ctrl+O for something else, so I need to reconsider this 🙂 )

Ahh I seee... So there is no way to set PS to open from a certain folder all the time??

That's super annoying. I have all my PSD files in a certain place that I open from all the time ( In my sidebar) but I save to a different folder and just want PS to go directly to my PSD folder anytime I hit CMD-O....

Adding a couple more clicks doesn't seem like a lot, but after opening my PSD folder hundreds of times a day, it starts to mount up! lol

I don't know of a way to do that, but another volunteer may chip in. What I do is to drag the folder to the Sidebar, then click on it to select it when saving.

Details are on the Apple website. Select your OS at the top:
