I just purchased the PS (desktop version, Windows 11)  a few days ago.  Things look good until I experienced a very weird problem that when I used the remove tool.

Using PS remove tool, I cannot select the area of the unwant object that I want to remove because everytime I click my mouse it always create a line, always and always, then the PS is freezed until I have to use the Windows task manager to shutdown this PS app.

I'm not happy at all.

Thanks for your suggestion. I did that way but the problem still exists.

I finally decided to downgrade to the previous PS version .i.e 26.11.0 to 26.10.0 --> still no luck.

Guess what? I then downgrade to PS 2024 (version 25.12.4) --> It works like a charm.

Definitely there are some serious bugs in PS 2025. Hope they will have the fixes soon.

Hi @tonyl8375436,

Thanks for sharing all those details. The behavior you described, where the Remove Tool creates lines and freezes Photoshop, isn’t something we’ve been able to reproduce internally. Therefore, it may be tied to a specific GPU/driver or configuration on your system.

Here’s what I’d recommend next:
 • Update to the latest Photoshop v27.0, this release includes several performance and stability fixes.
 • You don’t need to uninstall your older version (v26.10 or v25.12.4). The Creative Cloud app lets you keep multiple versions installed for testing. To do this, here’s the guide on managing versions: https://adobe.ly/47fe6GJ

Once updated:
 • Try reproducing the issue in v27.0.
 • Record your workflow from tool selection to the freeze (a short screen recording helps a lot).
 • Go to Help > System Info and copy-paste the details here. This includes your GPU and driver info, which helps us test the same configuration internally.

If the issue persists even after updating, we’ll escalate your sys info and recording to the product team for review.

Best,
Anshul Saini

Never seen or heard of anything like this.

Reset Photoshop preferences completely, by going into your user account and moving the whole Photoshop 2025 Settings folder to the desktop. This returns the application to clean, out-of-the-box factory state. Make sure to save out your actions, brushes etc first.

Yes, I did reset many times but the problem is still there. Moreover, I tries many suggestions that changed some PS settings related to remove tool but still no lucks.

It seems somethinng related to the spacing setup of the brush using by the remove tool. I belive PS has a bug in its SW that sets some spaces (brush spacing) in the remove tool that always creates the lines everytime clicking the mouse.

I have PS 2025 version 26.11.0 (Desktop version) installed on Windows 11.

Thanks.

Do you know how to reset your tools?  If so, do that.
