Photoshop sluggish and unresponsive Windows 11

I'm aware Photoshop likely hasn't been updated and/or optimised for Windows 11 yet, however i still haven't found many other users that are having a similar problem.

Photoshop is extremely slow and responds poorly on the Win 11 OS, I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling and clearing prefs. Rolling back to previous versions doesn't appear to make any noticable difference. There is also no obvious trigger to when these occur, it appears to run sluggish under all circumstances - it doesn't happen when using a particular tool for example.

Looking at task manager, it look as though Photoshop is barely using any of the CPU, not sure if that's potentially where the problem lies.

My pc specs: Ryzen 3900x, 64gb ram, RTX2080ti, running on an NVME drive.

I'm finding the same ussue after countless "workarounds" and reinstalls etc. Running a ryzen 5950 with 138gb ram and a rtx3080 and on an nvme scratch disk, should have no issue, other than that Adobe takes all our money and offers no solutions. Windows has been  out for months now and still no fix...perhaps its time to switch apps and cancel subscriptions.

Yes it's now January 19 2022 and Photoshop is totally useless on my machine running Windows 11..I have 1 set with Windows 10 on the same Creative cloud and it's fine but the Windows 11 copy freezes etc. and it's useless..

I've found some things to try that helped me get Photoshop running better under Windows 11.

  1. Go to Windows 11 Settings > System > Display > Graphics and under the 'Custom options for Apps' section choose to Add a desktop app and then browse to your Photoshop.exe file and add it to the list. Once in the list, click it and then click 'Options' and change to High Performance.
  2. If your using NVIDIA or AMD graphics, you can go back in to Windows 11 Settings > Display > Graphics and click "Change default graphics settings" then turn off "Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling".
  3. This tip is mainly for laptop/notebook users. Press the Windows Key and type "Edit power plan". Click the "Edit power plan" icon to bring up the power plan window and then click "Change advanced power settings". In the Options that appear, expand "Processor Power Management" and then "Minimum processor state" and change it to 30, 40 or 50% (try the lowest setting first). If your using Intel Graphics, you can also change that to "Maximum performance".

Hope this helps.

I just got a new PC with Windows 11 and I am also having the same issues with Photoshop.

Sometimes it freezes for a few seconds when opening a file, or copying and pasting. There is also a delay when opening the image size dialog box and other interface tools are showing extreme lag. Even the colour picker would hang for about 5 seconds before becoming usable.

Same here. New PC with Windows 11 and most of the Adobe apps are laggy and not very stable. I hope that Adobe will fix this soon.

See this statement from Adobe on Windows 11. I would avoid updating yet (except on a test machine).

Hi

As you know Photoshop has not been tested to run on Windows 11, Windows 11 has only been released and it will almost certainly contain bugs.

My advise would be to roll back to Windows 10, I actually tried Windows 11 and didn't see any reason for upgrading, it's lacking lot's of features that Windows 10 has.
