Photoshop stopped opening jpg and png files. Opens only pdf files, otherwise an "Error Report" appears. What could be the problem?

Hi @Vel_Vel1910, welcome to the community!
Could you share a bit more info, like which version of Photoshop you’re using? Also, please double-check that the JPG or PNG files you’re opening aren’t corrupted. It’s a good idea to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date too.
One more thing to try: go to Edit > Preferences > Technology Previews and disable Native Canvas if you have it enabled, sometimes that helps resolve similar issues.
Hope this helps, and let us know how it goes!

@Aleke Hello! The files I use are fully functional, I've checked them several times and they open easily in other programs, but as soon as I try to import them into Photoshop, an error appears.

— I have the latest version of photoshop installed. I'm not an expert, but I think I've updated all the drivers...

— I couldn't find the required parameter (go to Edit > Preferences > Technology Previews and disable Native Canvas)

Thanks for the updates, @Vel_Vel1910. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

I couldn't find crash reports submitted with the account you've signed in to the community with. If you see a crash dialogue, submit it with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

Try these steps to get Photoshop to behave as expected:

  • Do you use any plugins? If yes, try and hold the SHIFT key when launching Photoshop to skip loading any plugins.
  • You can attempt to manually reset Camera Raw by going to the following location %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw. A shortcut to get to this folder on Windows is:

    • Press the Windows + R
    • Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw

    • Rename or delete the Settings and UI folders.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!
