Question

Photoshop Unable to save/save as on macOS - Write access was not granted

New Macbook Pro
Using Lightroom Classic & Photoshop online
I was always taught to keep the library intact to always start with LR and then open the image in PS.
Opened a LR image, edited in PS but when I went to save it it says "PS write access was not granted".
Also tried editing an image with PS only and got same message when trying to save.
The pictures folder permission says I have permission to read/write.
On my former PC and using LR & PS loaded software I never had issues.
Thanks 🙂
Julie

Hi,

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop. Would you mind telling us the macOS version you're working on? Please ensure you using the latest version of Photoshop (22.1.1). If you're using macOS Catalina or macOS Big Sur, please go to the System Preferences for your Mac, then Security and Privacy, then select the Privacy tab. Then select Accessibility from the list to the left & check if Photoshop is added to the list with a check mark in front of it. If Photoshop is not a part of the list, please add it by unlocking the window first using the lock at the bottom left, then clicking the + icon & navigating to the Applications folder. Also, grant permissions to Photoshop under Full disk access located in the same list as Accessibility. Once done, restart the Mac & check if it helps.

You can try to reset the preferences of Photoshop using the steps mentioned here: https://adobe.ly/2Qzc0K3

Please backup your settings prior to resetting the preferences. You can check: https://adobe.ly/2vNz6FG

Let us know how it goes!

Regards,

Nikunj

Hi,
So, I have MacOS Big Sur 11.2 and Photoshop 22.1.1
I did everything you suggested in the body of your email.
Now I can start w/LR, edit in PS and save only to the cloud.
It won't let me save to the external drive where the originals are?
Getting closer but would really like to be able to save to my external hard
drive instead of the cloud.
Thanks,
Julie

This is a permissions error in your new Mac, I don't have my MBP handy, so I can't give you the exact steps, but in the system controls, look for disk permissions. You need to give LrC and PS permissions to the folders you are using to store the image files.
