Hi gurus,

I created a Photoshop template file for instagram. PS 2025 on a Mac Studio Sonomo 14.6

How do I point PS to the folder where my template files are saved so I see it when I select File > New and click the saved tab?

I don't have an option in File Handling preferences for template folders or file save locations

Copilot says:

  • Save your template as a Photoshop Template (.psdt) file in a specific folder.

  • Open Photoshop and go to Edit > Preferences > File Handling (Windows) or Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling (Mac).

  • In the File Handling preferences, look for an option related to Template Folders or File Save Location.

  • If you don't see a specific option, try adding the folder where you saved your template manually by navigating to the folder and dragging it into the Template Folders list.

  • Restart Photoshop to ensure the changes take effect.

@Tara Keane – I'd forget about asking Copilot at this point in time :]

AFAIK, you can't.

You can save your own blank presets to the "Saved" tab, but not templates. Templates are downloaded and licensed, I don't believe that you can add your own locally created templates outside of the cloud.

You can manually open your own locally created template PSDT file, which creates a new untitled document from the template content... Or drag the PSDT file into your library panel:

You can submit an "idea" feature request to add the ability to manage local template resources here:
