Polygon Lasso Tool keeps closing

Question

i use this tool a lot and have experienced issue over last couple of months. I selct tool, then as normal start clicking over and image to make selection. The selction points I make then dissappear and i have to start again. usually the same issue repeats 2-3 times, teh new ai box appears every time, then it will work.
My PS is alays up to date as is my operation system.
I have two desk tops, a Ryzen chip at home office, a Intel(R) Core(TM) Ultra 7 265 (2.40 GHz) at Work office , boteh with GeForce RTX cards and 32 GB of Ram.

I have been using Photoshop since v.5.0 and know what I’m doing with the program.

Hey, @Turner Design Agency. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here.

Here goes, please make sure there are no stale preferences in your Photoshop. Go to the location of the preference folder below and rename it to backup.

Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
You can press Press the Windows key > Enter 'Run' > Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe
Rename the Adobe Photoshop folder by adding a .old at the end. (Adobe Photoshop 2026 > Rename > Adobe Photoshop 2026. old), You can restore these preferences later if needed.(https://adobe.ly/4860qM9)
Restart the computer.

These changes will provide a fresh start to Photoshop, much like a new installation.
