Portrait collage consist of various objects

Dear Community,

I'm looking for a quick technique, ideally AI-generated, for the following:

It's about creating a portrait as a photo collage. The collage should consist of various objects that "recreate" the person. The objects are isolated from their backgrounds; there are about 50 different ones, and they can be reused. It's not about rectangular photos; there are countless tutorials for such collages on YouTube. Here's an example that's very similar to what I'm trying to do, in that case implemented with emojis (but I don't want to use emojis):

I've already tried using Photoshop, but if I understand correctly, I'd have to upload a portrait template of a person, along with all the isolated objects that are supposed to recreate the person. Then I'd need to be able to give instructions to Photoshop or another program.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Instead of Photoshop, you could try Illustrator with the Astute Graphics plugin Stipplism (which does have a cost associated, but it does have a free trial) and set the objects that you want to use as symbols:
