Based on how ACR behaves, you’re probably right when you say that a RAW file is required for the preset to be applied automatically. That’s a bit disappointing to me right now because it means extra work for me, but there’s nothing I can do about it. I’ll just have to live with it.

Thanks to everyone. This helps me, even though it unfortunately doesn’t fully satisfy me.

Based on JohanElzenga’s suggestion, I’ve now converted a RAW file using the original Adobe DNG Converter. My preset is automatically applied to this DNG file, just as it would be if I opened the original RAW file.

I had assumed that DNG is a standard format and that it therefore doesn’t matter where it comes from, but that’s obviously not the case. I’ll contact DxO about this, since they also have corresponding Lightroom plugins for PhotoLab and Pure RAW. I’m having the same problem in Lightroom, after all.

What’s strange, though, is that manually applying the preset using the corresponding button in the right-hand toolbar actually works. If it works manually, why doesn’t it work automatically?
