Question

Pressure Sensitivity is on, when the brush preference has it turned off V26.1

Essentially pressure sensitivity is dictating the brush tip size and opacity, even though in the brush settings it's turned off.  I've the basic brush, soft round settings and the mixer brush as well.  I've tested it with a simple white canvas and I've painted - same results as if pressure sensitivity is turned on.

Is there some new hidden way to turn this off?

Side note - it would be lovely if Adobe stopped changing basics, hot-keys, etc (from established norms) for NO APPARENT reason.  It's exhausting that they spend development time doing this and not fixing the multitiude of bugs in every-single-update.

If this button is turned on in the Options Bar, then Pressure Size will be enabled as soon as you contact stylus to tablet, and Shape Dynamics will be ticked.  The Brush Preview will also show as tapered.  Is that what is happening?

I assume you are just using the Brush tool and not stroking a path, for instance?

I can't think how pressure size would be enabled without the above happening.  I hate to use a cop out, but you could just Reset the brush tool

Could you give specifics?  We can give you workarounds if it is not working for you.  For instance saving custom shortcuts, toolbars and menus with custom workspaces.  This is a super useful feature that lets you choose how shortcuts work according to context.  If you need the defualt, then switch to Essentials.  I do this with short actions triggered by function keys (i.e. F5 gives me my most used workspace, F6 gives me Essentials)

I feel sure we can improve your Photoshop experience if you'd like to do that.

First thank you for the kind and detailed response (with screen caps).

I'm attaching a sample to show the disparagements between the two versions.  First - I do know of the quick/hotkey buttons at the brush tool controls, to activate pressure sensitivity for both opacity and flow.  Neither of those are turned on for this example.

Second - the below image is using the basic mouse and clearly there is a big variance - not only in pressure, but in brush size.  The sample document is a 10x10 inch, 16-bit.

Thank you for any insight!

Forgot to add that I did reset the brushes in V26.1 and still no change.
