Pressure sensitivity of Wacom Tablet stopped working after Photoshop update (AGAIN)

I'm getting so annoyed by Adobe and their products. I've been using Photoshop professionally for over 15 years in combination with Wacom. Every other update the pressure sensitivity stops working and it renders my wacom tablet almost useless. 


It seems you guys cannot get an update right straight away, there's always issues and it's killing the workflow of creative professionals who use your products and pay a lot every day. 

 

Once again the pressure sensitivity of my Wacom Intuos Pro tablet has stopped working. 
I do NOT wish to use Windows Ink, as whenever I use Windows Ink and draw pressing shift for example, there's this annoying small popup next to where my cursor is. This is making drawing practically impossible. 

In the previous version of Photoshop the pressure sensitivity was working just fine, after the update it stopped working. 

Previously there was this fix creating a PSUserConfig.txt file, this seems to be impossible now as the Adobe Settings folder is nowhere to be found. 

Please help because these constant issues with the overpriced products are seriously making me reconsider my choice of software.

    Ugh, that’s so frustrating — it always seems to happen after an update. Try reinstalling or updating the Wacom driver; that usually fixes it. Sometimes resetting Photoshop’s preferences helps too.

    You have to turn smoothing off. Pressure won't work with smoothing turned on. (using PSUserConfig.txt with # Use WinTab UseSystemStylus 0 with Photoshop 2024)

    Could be. I have a PTZ-620, which is practically steam powered. I don't know how the model numbers go, but I'm fairly sure PTH-xxx is much more recent. Odd that Wacom hasn't figured this out by now, because it's been an issue for quite a while.

      I just bought a brand new Wacom Pro and the issue was not fixed by the brand new driver. Gonna return it and consider another brand. And, it is indeed rediculous that every Wacom user has had to create a text file and put it in preferences to get their wacoms to work in photoshop. That's insane.

      Already tried that, didn't work. Downloaded latest drivers, tried older versions, etc, nothing worked. The only possible clue I have is the tablet model. Both OP and I have a Wacom Intuos Pro (the old model in my case : PTH-651).

        Or you could switch to a Xencelabs tablet, which I did late last year. It not only has a nicer feel than the Wacom, it doesn't have the problems with pressure sensitivity. Both pens (it comes with two) work beautifully. You just uncheck "Windows Ink" in the profile for Photoshop, and you're good to go.

        I'm on v25 on Windows 11 Pro and the PSUserConfig.txt handling works for me provided I turn off "Use Windows Ink" in the Wacom properties "Mapping" page. Time to reset Ps preferences, maybe?

          Did you upgrade to PS 25.0..? I'm pretty sure since we were talking about PSUserConfig.txt we knew where the proper folder for it was... The problem started with the launch of PS 25.0.

          I tried every trick in the book but to no avail, pressure is gone from PS unless Windows Ink is activated (not a solution). I can't seem to find any complaint about this issue except outside this thread so it really has me wondering!

            the PSUserConfig.txt, does work, make sur it in the right folder ...

              I'm struggling with the exact same issue at the moment. The PSUserConfig.txt trick doesn't seem to work anymore (the settings folder for PS 2024 does still exist though), so I tried reinstalling PS 2023 and 2022 but the trick also no longer works with these. Activating windows ink is absolutely horrible, I'm amazed this hasn't been fixed after all this time...

              I'm using a Wacom Intuos pro if that's of any importance in the matter.
