Print outs not matching preview

So my camera photo, edited photo through bridge on my computer, and the the photo I printed out all have different darknesses. The printed photo is very dark. What do I need to have my computer brightness on when editing to get a good final product? I work on a mac.

You said you are editing your images through Bridge. Could you provide some more information such as…

  • Are you processing RAW files?
  • Are you opening RAW files via Bridge and processing them in Photoshop?
  • Are these JPEGs?
  • etc…

Is you display calibrated and not run to to bright.  If you use you your display bright your images will look good on your display for you edit your image to look good on your display. However, when printed they will be darker.  Try adding a Brightness adjustment layer in top of your image and boost the brightness 10% to 20 % before printing.  They will look to bright and washed out on you display but should print well.
