IN photoshop CS5 when you select to print 8 copies of an image only one comes out of the printer...

worked fine with cs3 cs4

any input?

    Correct answer Chris Cox

Is adobe any closer to fixing this problem the program is almost one month old and is completely unusable for someone running a lab printing multiple photos of one image!!!!

Well, nobody reported these print problems until CS5 had been out a few weeks.

We're looking into it, and have identified some of the underlying problems (older printer drivers not working with the Vista/Win7 printing system).

It may be a while before we (and Microsoft) can come up with a fix.

    Same problem as OP.

Using PS CS5 on Windows XP SP3 and try to print 3 copies to a Canon Pixma MP110 (latest drivers installed). Only one copy comes out.

Change the amount of copies in the Print Dialog to 1 (one) and it gives me 3 copies. So the total amount is correct, and PS seems to remeber this amount.

However, if I change the amount of copies in the Printer Dialog itself (Print Settings), it is reflected in Photoshop's Print Dialog and all is working like it should.

Yes, this is a bug with some printer drivers.

We're investigating the problem with both Microsoft and the printer vendors, and are hoping to have a solution soon.

For now, going into Print Settings and changing the number of copies in there is the workaround if you have one of the printer drivers which exhibits the problem.

Thank you, I have talked with Dell, Microsoft, and Epson, and none of them have indicated that this was a major problem..Epson said it was probably my USB cord or the Window 7 spool driver]  I changed the USB cord  and told Microsoft what Epson said, they to control and for over an hour tried to do something, NO RESULTS. this was on Aug13th, then about an hour later I received a tel call from a person that I assumed was the lead man. He told me that he would e-mail what I could do either the following day or in 2 days. and would follow up with a call to me on Monday yesterday I did not get any e-mail nor a call. I hope your investigatio with the OEM does some good.  Photoshop CS5 printing is a 45 minute ordeal, with the many printing steps I take. Again thank you  Richard Betchley

Problems already mentioned in prior posts on this thread. One additional problem since updating to 12.0.1. Unable to change from Photoshop Manages Color to Printer Manages. If I change it to printer manages, then do page setup it reverts back to photoshop manages. If I adjust printer settings and then change to printer manages it reverts back to photoshop manages. This one issue was not present before updating. All other printing issues still remain with this one gem added to the pile. I have officially given up on using CS5 for printing and have to keep CS4 for printing. All suggestions on forum have been tried with unsuccessful results.

Also, after updating at random any file that is opened will randomly close and disappear(no rhyme or reason).

Where button "Screen" from a window "Print" in Photoshop CS5 has got to?

I retract my last post. Color profiling issue is still there. Sometimes CS5 prints with the correct profile, sometimes it decides it's not going to...seems to be completely random.

I bought a new computer with Windows 7 32-bit installed on it.  I installed all of my software and printing to a Dell 3130cn works beautifully except from Photoshop CS5.  Until that point, I always used Photoshop CS2.  Print speeds used to be fantastic.  I thought the problem was with the Windows 7 32-bit so I had the computer reformatted and 64-bit was installed so that I could reach all 8GB of RAM on my 3.6GHz machine (high-end graphics card too).  I am still experiencing delays of 3-5 minutes per photo.  This includes photos no larger than 1-2MB in size.

All printer drivers are current, and all Microsoft and Adobe updates have been applied.

I can't function like this.  Again, printing is very fast using all other applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe PDF, etc.)  This is restricted to Photoshop only.

The last update of PS5 seems to have fixed my profile problems. When I print I now get the colors I am expecting. The print interface is a bit slower then it was in CS4 but nothing on the order that some in the forum are experiencing. As for printing multiple copies, like another person posted, the answer is to set the number in the printer preferences dialog boxes not in the Print window in PS. Can't wait for a full update that addresses everyone's problems printing with the new Vista/Win7 print engine.

It appears that there are other printing problems in CS5 as well.  I started a discussion at Luminous Landscape a few days ago about prints not centering properly in CS5 (worked fine in CS3).  At least one other person reported a similar problem.  Both of us on Epsons in a Win7 64 environment with the latest Epson 64 bit drivers loaded.  Had one print that just output the bottom third of the image.  Odd happenings.

Epson drivers for what printer models?

    And what driver versions?

Older printer drivers on Win7 are causing an awful lot of problems.  The new print ticket system isn't meshing well with the old style drivers.

    Hi Chris,

I completely reinstalled a new version of win 7 (it backed the old into a

folder windows.old). As you suggested after a bad ram episode, one should

replace the OS which I did. I am completely enjoying a fully operational

CS5 Photoshop 64 bit & LightRoom 64 bit. Theses programs are completely

functioning. My Epson 4800 printer with the 64 bit driver is working

wonderfully normal for print copy, print, and allowing modification of sub

menu items. There are no waits of 90 seconds for any screen. The color is a

good starting place (will calibrate the screen & prints later tomorrow) and

choices for roll, manual feed, and paper tray are all working properly. I

haven't checked the paper centering...later this weekend. So My troubles

seemed to be the ram and the scrambled "X" files from some errant disrupted

files. Will see if the win 7 can keep it up with endurance...

thanks again for you help and things are off to a good rehabilitation.

The epson driver is epson12534.exe posted on 03/07/2008.

Got exactly the same set of problems. CS5 and Win 7.

Have the latest drivers from Epson all other software is up to date..

Can't do more than one print to the same printer without having to select a different printer then reselect the printer I want otherwise the thing tells me the printer it has just printed to does not exist.

The loosing the profile from print to print in the same session is also a pain as if I keep having to reselect the profile  inevitably it is going to get missed from time to time.

    Can't wait for the fix.

I checked on Epson's website and found that version 6.61 of the Epson driver is available, while I have 6.60. I downloaded and installed it (and rebooted even though the installer does not request a reboot).

Good news: The problem with losing settings and the error dialog upon clicking the PRINT SETTINGS button are FIXED.

Not so good news: The problem of only printing one copy is NOT FIXED. Printing multiple copies still prints only one.

Initial state of print dialog before printing. Print Resolution is 643PPI (4x6 print)

After pressing PRINT only one copy is printed.  Selecting File/Print again brings up the following.

Note the preview has reverted to 8.5x11 aspect ratio, and the print resolution is 361PPI.  That's the first problem -- the page setup has gone back to defaults.  However, press the Print Settings button and you see:

The dialog has the title "Print" and the text is "because the requested printer does not exist".

I dismissed the dialog and pressed PRINT -- it tried to print the image at 8.5.11 size.

The only way to get past this point and be able to re-select the printer settings is to close and reopen the image.

In case it's important, this is a Canon RAW file (.CR2) from a Canon 5D Mark II, opened via ACR 6.1.

I am also seeing this problem on an Epson R1900 in XP SP3

I believe printing in Windows from PS keeps getting worse with each release.

I am using both CS4 and CS5 (both 32bit as the 64 bit will not work on my 64 bit Win 7 machine yet...see other forum win 7 topics). The Epson 4800 takes very long to print with the newer CS5 PS for all menu items (e.g. clicking on print, choosing a different paper, choosing a different ICC/ICM....the initial dialogue print box may take 90 seconds to first appear. when I hit print, it also takes about another 90 seconds before the print head begins getting in the proper postion. My older CS4 PS (32bit) takes about 10 seconds to appear and initiate any dialogue box change.  I have a newer i7 intel with 8gig ram...any ideas??? thanks AJZ
