Problem accessing the learning modules

Hi all,

I'm posting this here as I couldn't find a proper spot.

During the last few months I've been receiving emails from Adobe with specific learning modules about Photoshop - but I guess the same applies to other apps.

Anyway the cta in this email won't lead to the learning module, rather it will start the download of the app installer. What sense could this possibly make? Especially considerint the email is being delivered to an existing user?

Also if I go to the adobe site and search for a learning module, the same will happen. Once you get into the course page and click on "start exercise in the app", the same installer download will start.
So long story short, if the app is the only place where training can happen - and I could argue that a quick visual guide/video could also work - why do they provide such a bad ux on emails and website?
I don't want to unsubscribe from the email as something useful could pop up day, but it really does not make sense the way it is now.

When you click on one of these links, it leads to a web page which uses a special file extension. Your browser is then supposed to open the associated application (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc), loading the learning module in the Discover Panel of that app. Your browser is supposed to learn which app to you when you install the app. If your browser doesn't know that the app is already installed, it downloads the installer to get you started.

Your browser not knowing the application has been installed for a few different reasons. This includes security settings preventing changes to your browser, default browser settings, settings being accidentally removed by an uninstall, etc. A few things you can try to let the browser know what apps are installed:

  • uninstall or disable any additional browsers you may have installed.
    • It is possible the association went to the wrong browser, the link may work from there if you copy/paste it from the email
  • uninstall and reinstall the app in question (i.e. Photoshop). This can re-establish the association with the browser
  • navigate to the content in the Discover Panel of the app. The link in the email is not necessary to view the content, it already lives inside your app. It's just a shortcut. You can simply open the Discover Panel and use the search bar at the top to look up the content by name or topic.
    • You can open the Discover Panel by:
      • Go to Edit > Search
      • Go to Help > Photoshop Help
      • Clicking the Magnifying Glass icon in the upper right of Photoshop
      • Keyboard shortcut: Cmd/Ctrl+F (for "Find")

When I searched for "learning module," I arrived at

xxxx://www.adobe.com/search?query=learning%20module&learnIn=1

Is this the page you landed on?

The actual URL I tried to paste in didn't work when posted. Replace 'xxx:' with "http:"
