Problem with an AMD RX 9070 graphics card

I am using an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card but in photoshop, when I try to use camera raw, I get an error message saying that graphics processor acceleration is required. The graphics card drivers have been updated recently. I see that there is an option to use the graphics processor in the preferences settings but this is greyed out. Any ideas please?

Hey, @Daniel30527327wi3g. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Sometimes, the latest GPU drivers are not stable. Try the below-mentioned steps & check how it goes.

If it does not help, roll back to the recommended and recent version of AMD's GPU drivers.

The GPU info & Logs location on Windows is %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw. A shortcut to get to this folder on Windows is:

  • Press the Windows + R
  • Enter %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw

  • Rename the GPU & Logs folder in this directory by adding .old at the end. (GPU.old & Logs.old)
  • Launch Photoshop.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

Hi there!  If the Use Graphics Processor option is greyed out in Photoshop, it usually means Photoshop is not detecting your GPU as compatible or functional for acceleration. you should check the GPU Compatibility or reset Photoshop preferences.

Thanks for that. Commentary online does not suggest any compatibility issues. This is a fairly new, high performance graphics card so I would not really expect issues. I tried resetting preferences - to no avail. There were no problems until today.
