Problem with Photoshop CS6 13.0 rectangle select tool

I have Photoshop CS6, version 13.0. This just started: when I selct an item with the rectangle took, it appears with transform controls. I can't disable that. This doesn't occur with the lasso tool.

Please show a screenshot of your interface, including the options bar for the Rectangle Selection tool and the Layers panel.
