Problem with the percentage sign in the text box

Hello everyone, I've been experiencing a strange problem in Photoshop since yesterday. When I create a text box and try to write something like "100% cashmere," the % sign automatically moves to the left of the 100, resulting in "%100." Even when I copy-paste "100%" from Notepad, the % sign still moves before the 100. It's baffling! I have the latest version of Photoshop, and I'm on PC.

 

In my screenshot, it's also strange because when I place my cursor just after the % sign and try to delete it, I can't. It's as if this action is blocked.

Realize this is an old thread, but I ran into this issue in After Effects as well recently so thought I’d share my workaround in case anyone else comes across this. No matter what I did or where I copied the text from, my “25%” formatted to “%25”. Was working in v26, but the issue carried over when I downgraded to v25 as well. Two things I noticed/did to resolve the issue.

  1. For some reason, Hindi digits was checked. I got my project file from another editor, so maybe they had it enabled. Unchecked that box, which may help, although I saw no change.
  2. I selected all my text, went to the Text settings on the side (the three/four lines) and selected “Reset Character”. This reverted the text back to the default font, but also changed the percentage back to its usual placement. Had no problems after that when switching back to the font used in the video.

Note that if you have a block of text, I recommend resetting the whole block so you don’t run into issues with the % sign elsewhere.

@Pierre274553716cbc  did you change the setting to read from righ-to-left by accident? Languages like Hebrew or Arabic read from right to left, while North America, Australia and the UK may read left to right.
