PS 2015.5 - Refine Edge tool? Missing?

Hi,

With the new update of Photoshop it appears that the Refine Edge tool has been removed or changed into something else?
Anyone shed some light on this? Its a tool that I would always use to quickly adjust my selections when editing photography.

Closest tool I can see that looks the same and is in the same location as the Refine Edge tool is Select and Mask. This is under the right click of the selection.

Cheers,

Adam.

Yes it has been retired , just when I learned how to use it Seriously I'm not up to speed with the new release yet, but Jesus Ramirez has posted a set of videos on the new features

or to see many of the important ones

I think there are also links in Jeff Tranberry's post above to a number of videos by Jule Anne Kost who is always worth watching.

I'll be honest, I am working on a job right now, I just need the old tool back, it did the job in 10 seconds, now I have to mess with this, if it aint broke, don't fix it, I now have to manually try to smooth her hair in this cut out.  I wish I had my old photoshop back.   And of course, I need this work done asap.  There are so many things that do need to be added to PS.  A brush that paints noise, or paints texture or paints blur would be great, and when you go to window, to look for a file, small thumbnails of the images would make it faster to find the file.  I am almost sick that the refine edges tool is not there.  It worked so well and so fast.  Wow.

Did you read the earlier posts?

The old refine edge is still available. With a selection made go to the select menu and then hold down shift while you click on Select and Mask.

Please.

PLease.

PLease.

Bring back refine edge.

I understand where you were going with this... but this has SERIOUSLY slowed down my workflow...
I took the time to learn all the new tools ... so that's not it. (Keep in mind... taking the time having to learn it is also time lost). Something that would normally take me ten minutes is taking an hour. The separate window is seriously bogging down my computer also.

I normally not someone to verbalize my complaints but this is ridiculous. I don't understand why you would change smoething that already works really well.

Refine Edge is still there, but hidden. See my reply above, from 14 July. I've just checked latest version (2017.1.1) and it still works.

The latest version is no longer CC2017.1.1.   CC2018 was released today.

Your point is still accurate though the old refine edge is still available. With a selection made go to the Select menu then  hold down Shift and Click on the Select and Mask menu option.

Refine Edge is still there in latest versions, just hidden. Make your selection, then go to the Select menu, and hold the shift key while selecting Select and Mask. Bingo! Refine Edge panel opens.

I love the way no one ever dose the Refine edge tool demo and then has a ago putting the image on a dark solid colour background...

You can still access the old refine edge tool very easily in Photoshop CC. Here is how:

I just wanted to write in thanking Adobe for hearing the community. The patch notes from the latest update for Photoshop (which I downloaded a week or two ago) mentioned improvements to Select and Mask. Sure enough, when I tried it after the upgrade, it worked fantastically!

I'm really glad because the tool as it was before was practically unusable for me in my work. Now, I'm fine with it. I hope they continue to listen and even better, I hope they engage the community more to see what the feedback may be before things are rolled out.
