PS 26.3 hangs when saving PSD as GIF

Lately, whenever I try to save a PSD file as a GIF, PS just freezes. I have to use Task Manager to kill the PS process and start over. I finally have to give up and use a free on-line converter. I've made thousands of GIFs like this over the years I've used PS, and never had a problem until the last year or so. What's changed? I've tried fiddling with some settings but nothing has helped. Am I the only one with this problem?

@adpremxxx try manually resetting your Photoshop preferences
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Remember to back up your settings before doing the preference reset
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

If that doesn't help, can you post your Photoshop system info, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info, hit the copy button and paste the entire thing into this thread

Ged,

Thanks for the suggestion -- manually resetting PS preferences did the
trick. I don't understand what would have caused this, since I don't recall
making any changes to preferences around the time this began to be a
problem.

Thanks,
Steve
