PS animation: When moving playhead, automatically select the layer actually visible

When animating in Photoshop, and moving the playhead left or right, it doesn't select the actual visible layer of the video group I'm working on, and I have an annoying message saying I can't draw on the layer on screen. I have to manually select the layer I see to be able to paint on it.

Is it possible by script to automatically select the layer you see when moving playhead ?

@MrMoxo unfortunately, there is no built-in preference or setting to automatically select the visible layer when the playhead moves. To answer your question, Yes, it is theoretically possible with a script. But, Photoshop's scripting (using ExtendScript or UXP) has limitations on directly monitoring real-time user interactions like scrubbing the playhead.

Have you thought of using Adobe Animate instead? https://www.adobe.com/products/animate.html
