PS gives the message"Release has encountered a problem and needs to close" when I exit PS. I am running Windows 11 version 26H2. How do I fix this error. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling PS to no avail. Thanks.

Further to my post just now I have seen a suggestion that Nik Filters is causing the problem and someone has said they do not want to disable Nik Filters because it is part of their workflow. If this is a solution I also do not want to disable Nik Filters because I use these filters all the time and it is so easy to access them via Photoshop!!

This is happening to me all the time now! It has become tiresome and pretty irritating. It gives options to “Generate Report” or “Don’t Send”. I have continually been using both options and was hoping Adobe would reply to me with a solution but no such luck. If someone knows of a very simple fix I would be so grateful to hear how to stop this message appearing :-))) ???

P.S. I disabled Nik collection 8 by moving the DxO3 folder away from the Photoshop Plugin directory (as Adobe recommends). The stand-alone version of Nik-8 still works (outside Photoshop).

Same problem here. Does not occur when Nik collection 8 is disabled. 

Anshul: Below is the report from when PS gave the same error report when I closed it a few minutes ago as I originally posted. I hope I copied the correct information for you. I then restarted PS using the shift button to stop third party plugins (one of which is DXO Nik Collection) as you indicated and used PS for a couple of edits and then closed it normally. The error message did not appear. I have been using Version 6.16.0 x64 (3) of DXO Nik Collection. Apparently, there is a problem with this plugin and PS version 27.11. What do you think I should do? I use the Nik Collection fairly often, and I didn’t have this problem with PS 27.9.1.I. I believe there is a newer version of Nik for $150. Should I consider buying that or simply going back to PS 27.9.1?

I see the same on my machine. It starts after the update to Photoshop 27.11. However, it does not happen every time. After PS crashed I see an entry in the Windows Event log.

 I’ve raised a support case on DxO, but actually still without a solution.

​@Anshul_Saini You asked if DxO’s Nik Collection is installed. Is there a reason for this question? Is there a known issue with Nik? If there some infos about please share so I can inform DxO also.

The Crash Reporter appears on every time. I submit the report in the past.

Thanks for reporting this. Since the message appears only after Photoshop has apparently finished closing, I’d like to check whether a component or plug-in is failing during the shutdown process.

Could you please share Help > System Info > Copy and then paste the report here?

Also, a couple of quick checks:

• Do you have Nik Collection by DxO installed?

• As a test, launch Photoshop while holding Shift, choose Yes when asked to skip loading optional/third-party plug-ins, use Photoshop briefly, and then quit normally. Please let us know whether the error still appears.

• If the Adobe Crash Reporter appears when you quit, please submit the report and enter the same email address you use for your Adobe Community account so we can locate the crash on our side.

The fact that this occurs during shutdown and hasn’t resulted in lost work is useful information, but we’d still like to identify what is failing during the exit process.
