PS is no longer working on my M2 laptop: AVX and AVX2

I was once able to open RAW files on my laptop. No longer can. I get this message:

"Could not complete your request becasue your computer does not provide the required AVX and AVX2 instruction sets needed to process video."

I'm on a MacBook Air

Chip Apple M2

MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1

Please help!

I travel and work with this laptop and my work depends on RAW files.

Kind thanks,

Hélène

Seems that somehow the Intel version of Photoshop 2025 got installed on your system.

Which is why there is no Open using Rosetta in the File Info.

I would use the Adobe Creative Desktop Application in Applications/Adobe Creative Cloud to uninstall/reinstall Photoshop 2025 and that should hopefully get you the Apple Silicon version of Photoshop and resolve your issue.

According to the System Info you provided, Rosetta is indeed enabled for Photoshop.

Go to Applications/Adobe Photoshop 2026, right click on the Adobe Photoshop 2026.app, click on Get Info, then uncheck Open using Rosetta.

Also you should update whatever Adobe applications you have from within Photoshop by going to Help>Updates.

Hi Jeff, I appreciate your advice. If you can view my attachment.. I did that excercise but if you can view the attachment.. there's no Rosetta to check off? Weird!

@123941211

This is a hardware (CPU) requirement for Photoshop.

  • What year is your MacBook Air?
  • Are you running Rosetta? (If so, disable it.)

This is a CPU issue, and not a bug in Photoshop, so I've moved your post to Discussions for now.

Hello Jane-e,

Thank you for your response.

I'm on a MacBook Air

Chip Apple M2

MacOS Sequoia 15.1.1

Please see screen shot of - Get Info in Adobe Photoshop 2025

One can see that apple rosetta is not present to check off... weird.

I appreciate your time on this!
