Question

PS: Live Shape Control for Rectangle gone

With the rectangle tool I created a rectangle. After like 15 minutes of not working in Photoshop and not changing anything at all the “Live Shape Control”, which shows you handles to stretch the rectangle or round the corners, was not appearing anymore.

When looking into the properties I also don’t find any settings that I can change (I attached screenshots of a “working” rectangle and the “corrupted” rectangle).

How can I repair the corrupted rectangle and make the “Live Shape Control” and the property settings available again? (I’m not talking about a workaround - I’m looking for a fix of this issue)

Kind regards
Nico

How exactly did you transform the Shape Layer (as it appears to have been rotated)?

Could you have used the Pen Tool or the Direct Select Tool on it?

I think someone created a Script to add rounded corners to rectangular Paths a while back (before Live Shapes), but I am not sure whether this accounted for rotated shapes.

I transform the Shape Layer by selecting the Shape Tool in the Tool Bar and use the appearing handles to expand or compress the length or height. When rotating I use the “CMD + T” Transform function.

Between the shape being a fully functional Live Shape and now it being just a rectangle I didn’t do or change anything at all - this error occured after going back to my open photoshop file (after I was browsing the web for some time).

Both methods should not degrade the Live Shape (though rotating would not need cmd-T but can be done with the Rectangle Tool by hovering outside a corner-point until the cursor changes to the rotation one).

That I haven’t observed such a case naturally doesn’t mean it’s impossible to happen but as far as this Shape Layer is concerned I am afraid the ship has sailed (unless you have not closed the file since the issue arose and could step back in History).

Creating a new Rectangular Shape Layer based on the Vector Mask’s four PathPoints via a Script seems possible but unless the issue is a very frequent one it might not be worth the trouble.
