PS, LR, LRc installed on computer

Dell XPS 15 with i9 processor just can't handle the workload of PS, LR or LRc with all three installed. Can these programs be removed and re-uploaded only when I'm going to work in them? Thank you. I'm a novice. The gift of your time, expertise and insights is appreciated.

There should be no need to uninstall anything. For one thing, applications don’t slow down a computer just by being installed, and not even if you start several of them. Multiple applications slow down a computer only if many are running at the same time and also if more than one is extremely busy using lots of CPU, GPU, and RAM.

The only way “too many” applications might slow down a computer is if they take up so much space that free storage space is low.

Most of the computer specs are decent. There’s discrete graphics and 32GB RAM. That specific i9 has 20 cores and is only two years old. My laptop has only 8 CPU cores and is older, yet it runs multiple Adobe applications smoothly and productively, I do it all the time. Based on that and the symptoms, some ideas are:

Check the version of the graphics driver that runs the RTX3050. If it isn’t up to date, there’s the possibility of bugs or incompatibilities with the current OS or apps.

Try the link posted by D Fosse regarding dual graphics, since the laptop has both Intel Xe and Nvidia RTX graphics.

If the laptop is running anti-malware software, see if things run better with it temporarily disabled. There have been cases where, for example, anti-malware software overzealously scans applications such as Lightroom Classic, causing the application to slow down significantly. If it looks like this is the case, try excluding any affected applications from the malware scan.

You are all brilliant people and generous with your gift/talent of knowledge, as well as your willingness to help others. I cannot thank you each enough.

I am posting the full Help>System Info from PS below, if that should help further. Your knowledge is amazing and well over-my-head; yet, I will gather your insightful comments and trouble-shooting thoughts and ideas and take them, along with the computer, somewhere/to someone who can perhaps work the kinks out. Is there hope for the possibility that the computer can be upgraded by way of a new graphics card/driver or anything else that needs to be 'aligned'?

Supposing it cannot be 'made/upgraded' Adobe compatible, it would help so much to know a recommended computer that has the best specs for Adobe compatibility and which will easily ‘grow’ along with Adobe updates. I have an assignment that requires a great deal of photo editing…started with HP Spectre it was great until it wasn’t…then this Dell was okay until it wasn’t. Seemingly Adobe’s updates weaken my computer’s capability to 'keep up'. Whatever it takes to get back on task is my goal, and whatever new computer suggestions I can gather will help tremendously.

My immediate thought here is that you're either way low on disk space - or you have a GPU problem/conflict (perhaps with dual graphics).

If you post the full Help > System Info from Photoshop we can probably say more.

Hello and thank you to each of you who responded.

What exactly is happening is when using LR to edit, after a short while the computer heats up and when trying to highlight/mask, I have control. Wide streaks of the mask color shoot in random directions across the image. So my thought was maybe having PS, LR and LRc (have just recently switched to LR) loaded on the computer is causing the problem...hence the question, can I delete all three from the hard drive, and load only the one program I'm going to use at a time?

Your graphics doesn't meet the minimum requirements for Photoshop.

A dedicated graphics card with at least 4 GB dedicated RAM is recommended:

Can you paste the full specs? Should be no issues with an XPS 15 and i9 processor. Sounds powerful enough.

Can you provide a more detailed explanation of what's going on and what the actual problem is?

Your machine cannot handle all three apps running at the same time? Close any app that you are not using and run only one Adobe app at a time, with all other apps closed, including the browser, etc.

It may also be helpful to see your specs; you can copy and paste the content from Help > System Info.
