PS Ver 26.11.0 Alpha Selection isn't accurately showing the selected Area

I'm working with a new hire. I'm on a Mac, he's on a PC. He's using PS ver. 26.11.0.

Steps:

1. Open a PS image

2. Create an Alpha Channel (white box on a black field)

3. Select the alpha channel (so you see marching ants)

4. Inverse the selection - doesn't reflect the inverse with the marching ants-they stay the same

This was driving me crazy until we went back to the RGB channel and copied the image and pasted it into another document of the same size.

Apparently, the feature is working as expected but the marching ants aren't showing the "actual" selected area. It still "looks" like the original selected area is active but after using Inverse, it has selected what you would expect.

This sounds confusing.

Looks like when the Move Tool is active, the Transform Bounding Box is not allowing the selection (marching ants) to be visible.

Try switching to another tool or in the Move Tool options uncheck Show Transform Controls and see if you can see the whole selection.

Hit the Q key, does Quick Mask show the correct area?

It shows white areas selected when I activate the alpha but that
selection doesn't flip when I use inverse. Ideas?

Quick Mask shows selected or unselected areas, depending on how you set it. If you invert the selection then Quick Mask should invert as well.

It's working as expected here. Do you possibly have the image zoomed in so the edges are out of view?
