Question

PSD layers got replaced with another PSD layers

I was working on a PSD file let's call it "X" and then I opened another PSD file "Y" then suddenly "X" layers got replaced automatically by "Y" layers. I closed the "X" file without saving hoping to undo the sudden change but when I opened it my hours of work are all gone, the the "Y" layers are still there.

I didn't do anything it's really weird that's the first time this happened to me and it's really frustrating.

Were Smart Objects (Ebmedded or Linked) involved?

It just happened to me. Lost all my work, on another file. I just posted about it. This is a major bug and it repeats in newer versions too.

Hi @Superneutrino

Sorry for the delayed response. I hope the issue is resolved by now with the latest update 27.0. If not, please share your System Info from the Photoshop Help menu (Help > System Info > Copy and paste it here) so we can take a closer look.

Regards,

Srishti

There's no way layers can move on their own. And closing without saving will ignore any changes made and revert the file to last saved version.

However, it's true that if you work with floating windows, it can be difficult to see which document is active and which are in the background.

You need to show screenshots of this actually happening. Make sure to name your documents so that they are immediately distinguishable.
