Radial gradient tool glitch

I’m using bracketed images (architectural photography) - one on top of the other in the form of layers > generate layer mask > in order to reveal detail from the image underneath I have always used a radial gradient to start slowing working in detail through that layer mask. All of a sudden, it has glitched and if I move that radial gradient around it actually starts stacking and the opacity control no longer have an effect (it is from black to transparent)

The radial gradient tool jumping to the center on release is super annoying, especially when trying to fine-tune from the edge.

For me it only happens when "Reverse" is checked in the options bar. Uncheck it and the drag behaves normally again (gradient starts where you click and spreads outward). If you actually need reverse, just flip it after placing or use the gradient editor to swap colors.

Tried it on the latest Ps beta too and same behavior, so probably intentional or at least consistent. Give that a shot and see if it sticks for your workflow.

Try right-clicking on the gradient layer and choose Rasterize layer.
