I am having the exact same issues. I'm creating multiple png files in Photoshop, only to have them initially work in a project and then become ghost files. This is incredibly aggravating and I'm losing hours of work.

What are ghost files? Are they saved to your hard drive? And are you using any cloud storage like Dropbox?
