Recently updated Photoshop. Now have a different layout.

So I've just fired up my computer to do a bit of photo editing in Photoshop. I Notice an alert for a new Photoshop update. Because my Photoshop has been very-VERY slugish over the last few months (despite having a very powerful new computer) I clicked the update.

BIG MISTAKE!!!! I Now have a COMPLETLEY DIFFERENT layout and I cant find any of my folders to edit!!!! I Had approx 80 folders on my desktop and previous version they were all neatly stacked in a row on the left hand side in the photoshop app ready to use. Now I have nothing. I Can't even edit from a seperate connected hard drive. WHATS GOING ON?????

I Have clicked uninstal and then gone to older versions but every time the new version is installed!!!! How can I go back to the version from the start of 2025?

Any help would be much appreaciated.

I answered a very similar post yesterday, which has me wondering...

I advised that poster to look at Manage Updates settings, but I also said that as this was not a major version update, I would not have thought the 'Import previous settings' parameter to be relevant. Check that thread and see if it looks like the same issue.

That doesn’t describe Photoshop. In the over 30-year history of Photoshop, it has never displayed a long list of folders going down the left hand side. Maybe what you thought was Photoshop was something else. How about this: Does the picture below look like what you remember? If you recognize this picture, you were using the Folders panel in (Adobe Photoshop) Lightroom Classic, so Lightroom Classic is what you need to open to see what you used to. In Lightroom Classic, open the specific catalog you were using before (it might open by default), and you should see your list of folders.

Confusingly, Adobe formally labels this “Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic,” as you can see by the red rectangle around the word Photoshop at the top of the picture. But notice that the word Photoshop is small and the words Lightroom Classic are larger. That means Lightroom Classic is the primary name of this application, and it’s what everyone calls it. If the picture above is what you were looking for, open the application Lightroom Classic.

The last few versions of Adobe Photoshop have looked like the pictures below, after you start Photoshop (left) and create a new document (right). This is Photoshop, and it’s had this look going back several versions.

PLEASE Can someone help me revert to the previous version of photoshop????? I Have just clicked the update and the whole latout has totally changed for the worse!!!!!! I Absolutley HATE it!!!! How can I go back???? I Cant find any of my previous folders and it seems I am now being forced to edit via the cloud!!!!!!

WHY CAN'T YOU LEAVE THINGS ALONE???????????????

Thanks for the reply. I Did try that though and all I kept getting was the new version....HOWEVER what seems to of happned now is my ''Lightroom'' is now exactly the same as what my Photoshop was!!!! Its like they've just switched names or something. So I now have eactly the same as what I had before regards to layout etc only its now called Lightroom. Has Adobe switched the names over? I'm only using Photoshop/Lightroom maybe twice a month so maybe I missed the change as I never used Lightroom before I just used photoshop.

I Will look into the slowness advice later, thanks for your help!
