Red mask preview colour not adjusting in latest 25.5.1 update.

Hi,

I have been using a different mask preview overlay colour for a while now. It just defaulted back to Red. If I adjust it again, it resets back to default for each image I open. I am not in Quick Mask mode.

Windows 11 64bit

You do mean layer mask? Not quick mask?

Anyway, every once in a while we hear about cases where settings don't seem to stick. In those cases it's always about permissions to your Windows user account. That's where Photoshop preferences are stored (not in the Program Files). Try to right-click the Photoshop icon and "Run as Administrator".

Anything else that seems to revert after you've changed it?

Bottom line is that I can't reproduce this.

Issue seems to be fixed, I have changed user and system permissions to Full Acccess on (C) > Program Files > Adobe > Photoshop 2024. Also on my (D) drive where I store all the images and scratch disk. It might also be that all my images are stored within a One Drive "Pictures" location... But seems to be fine after a full shut down and restart.

Layer mask preview colour, I never use quick mask. Just reset my Photoshop permissions to "full access" for user and system, and did a reboot. Still does not stick. I will play with a few things and see what happens.

Thanks ! Tried resetting preferences. Still the same issue. Back to default Red preview for each new image.

Works correctly here, new mask color sticks.

I assume this is where you changed it?

If it still doesn't stick, that sounds like something that would be fixed by resetting your preferences. Corrupt preferences can cause unpredictable behavior. Preferences are prone to corruption because they are rewritten on every application exit. An irregular shutdown can easily corrupt them. Remember to save out everything you need first (actions, brushes etc).

I made an action to adjust the mask colour on each new image. Hope it get's corrected with the next update.
