Currently the Remove AI tool, works with distraction removal. It does not permit to draw straight lines. For example: A straight line from point "A" to point "B", to remove digital artifacts. The Clone and Spot heal have this feature but frequently they are not the ideal choice. Draw backs to these two tools, Clone requires a source from which to clone, and Spot healing tool frequently, alters the edge itself. The Remove Tool, does a much better and cleaner job, especially where an edge is soft. I'm requesting for this enhancement because it is very difficult to maintain and drag a straight line with the Removal tool when the image is enlarged and the line extends across the entire screen of a 27" or 30" monitor. Please do not change this fantastic AI Removal tool, only add additional functionality.

Hey, @rene_8645. I am sorry for the ongoing confusion. I'll help you figure this out.

You can disable 'Remove after each stroke' to retain the flexibility of drawing and extending your remove selection.

This way, you can draw straight lines, make fine selections, and have further control over the Remove tool.

You'll need to press Enter key or click the check in the toolbar to commit the Remove action.

Just spoke a while ago to Tech Support, he stated that the Remove Tool does not support the straight line feature from point A to point B. You can do it, two other Tech Support say "not available". I can't get it to work. Something is askew here.

Thank you so so much! Yes, this works!!! You just made my day!!!

Please, pass and share this "pearl of wisdom" with other support staff. They need to know this because two other Adobe Support Staff members told me verbally, this feature was not supported for the Romve Tool. I am not critizing the support staff in any manner, Photoshop is evolving rapidly and keeping up with new features and changes makes their job extremely tough. They are wonderful people and help all the users that request it. Again thank you, Photoshop is the very best App.

Photoshop v 26.10.0, Beta v 26.11.0. Holding shift only allows me to drag highlighted area, as soon as I release AI goes to work. Cannot Highlight point A and then point B for a straight line. Also, spoke yesterday to Adobe support regarding a different issue and asked about AI Remove tool, was informed that this feature is not available, with AI Remove Tool. It is only available with Clone and Spot (at that time he had remote control of my Windows 11 Pro). He thought that it was a good idea and would pass my suggestion from his end. Also I showed him a image where Remove Tool was not working and Spot Healing tool modified the edges. Hope this help you pinpoint my problem. In both Photoshop and Beta I cannot draw a straight line. Thank for your assistance,

Hi @rene_8645, welcome to the community!

I’m able to draw a straight line with the Remove Tool by holding down the Shift key. Are you seeing something different on your end? Also, could you let us know which version of Photoshop you're currently using? That’ll help us figure out what might be going on.

@Aleke I am pretty sure the OP is referring to the trick of touching down at one end of the stroke and shift clicking at the other end. This works with most tools that use cursor presets, but does not work with the remove tool. He is absolutely right, because that is an extremely useful feature, and would be especially useful with the Remove tool.

To be honest, I suspect a lot of peopl would use it to remove watermarks from copyrighted images (below)
