Question

Remove Tool stops responding mid-brush after updating to Photoshop 27.11

Since updating to Photoshop 27.11, the Remove Tool stops working while I am brushing over the area I want to remove.

While I am still painting the selection, the tool suddenly deactivates on its own. Only a small part of the area I wanted to remove ends up marked, and the rest of my stroke is lost.

The only way to keep going is to click Cancel and start again, then try to paint as fast as I can before it cuts out. This makes it impossible to select fine details accurately, which is a big problem for my daily work.

This did not happen before the update. It began right after I installed version 27.11.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open any image in Photoshop 27.11
2. Select the Remove Tool
3. Start brushing over the object you want to remove
4. Keep painting for a few seconds
5. The tool deactivates mid-stroke and leaves only a partial selection

Expected result:
I can paint the full area I want to remove without the tool stopping.

Actual result:
The tool deactivates on its own while I am still painting.

System info:

Photoshop version: 27.11
Operating system: [Windows 10 / Windows 11]

Has anyone else run into this? Is there a known fix or workaround?

Thank you

@Lively_friends180e I can’t reproduce the issue on my system with Photoshop version 27.11 on Windows 11, have you tried changing the processing to more stable in the preferences to see if it helps
