Question

Right-Click Fade doesn't bring up palette

When I right-click on a pasted image, the choice of fade does not bring up the palette to adjust fade of the pasted image.  I am still able to go to the Edit tab and choose Fade to bring the palette up that way.

I can only open the Fade dialog after doing something that can be faded.

Again, what are you expect to fade after pasting?

I tried right-clicking after pasting. As expected, Fade did not appear in the context sensitive menu and was grayed out in the Edit menu.

I can only get the Fade dialog after doing something that can be faded.

What do you expect to fade after pasting?

I think I’ve realized your confusion here.  My imagery has a 4th channel.  When working with just 3 channels, the option of right-click to Fade is not present.

Pasting an image should not trigger the Fade dialog box. Are you doing something else to the image?

Yes.  After I paste the image, I right-click on it, then choose Fade.

If I understand you correctly, you paste an image, go to Edit menu > Fade (or right-click), and nothing happens? Is that right, or have I misunderstood?

That’s not how the fade command works. You can fade adjustments, blending modes, filters, many tools, et cetera, but you can’t fade a Paste. See this page from Jesús Ramirez on the Photoshop Training Channel:

https://photoshoptrainingchannel.com/tips/fade-command/

What aspect do you want to fade after you paste the image? We might be able to help you with that.
